Dr. Heidi Kovar has been practicing dentistry since 2003. Her true passion is building strong and meaningful relationships with her patients and providing truly first-class, compassionate dental care. Why Did You Decide to Become a Dentist?
Shortly after having her braces removed during her freshman year at the University of Texas at Austin, she began to consider dentistry as a potential career. After speaking with several practicing dentists, she learned that the most challenging aspect of the profession was the business side of owning a private practice. Consequently, she chose to attend UT’s McCombs School of Business, where she earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management Information Systems while simultaneously completing the prerequisite coursework for dental school.
Where Did You Study Dentistry?
Dr. Kovar earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery from Baylor College of Dentistry, now named Texas A&M University College of Dentistry. Each year, she attends continuing education and remains up-to-date on the latest technology. She is also an active member of the American Dental Association and Texas Dental Association to stay abreast of the latest advancements in dentistry.
Dr. Kovar takes an active, hands-on role in all aspects of the dental practice. Drawing on her business background, she contributes across a wide range of responsibilities, including clinical support, patient care, and administrative operations. Since 2008, she has also conducted “Tooth Talks” for preschool and kindergarten students at St. Mary’s School, educating young children on the importance of proper oral hygiene—an outreach effort that reflects her commitment to community education and preventive care.
